One of the most competitive men’s leagues in the peninsula of the SF Bay Area was the San Mateo YMCA Monday night league. After the YMCA changed the participation requirements, all the teams fled and a new league was formed at the Burlingame Sports Center. This summer was the inaugural season at the BSC and because everyone was home for the break, the competition was fierce. Many teams had collegiate players (eg MIT, Williams, etc) as well as a few overseas professionals.
Team Esface made an instant impact by going 6-0 to start the season with a high-powered, high flying and entertaining team of ball players. They went on to lose 1 before playoffs and then bounced back to win it all….convincingly. Great team basketball and intense defense set the tone in this playoff showcase.
Featured Players: Jonathan Singletary, Emmanuel Igbinosa, Dele Sobomehin, Manny Martin, Russ Barnes, Jonathan Robinson, Demetric Sanders.
NBA guard Matt Barnes makes noise in the SF Pro Am once again by breaking ankles and hitting a game winner to win the Dream Team’s 4th championship. As a bay area native (born in Santa Clara and played high school ball in Sacramento), he tries to make it back every off season (summer) just in time for Pro Am playoffs.
This was the 8th year of Team Esface’s Matt Lottich Life Skills Basketball Camps (MLLS).
Not only does the unparalleled staff at MLLS know how to teach the game and have fun with young, aspiring ballers…many of them also have a unique ability to dunk. With the great energy provided by the kids of session 2, 3 coaches line up and make their first attempts in the first round.
1st dunk: Manny Martin with an amazing soar over junior coach Kyle Carter sitting in a chair in the key.
2nd dunk: Dele “hot sauce” Sobomehin throws it up for himself for a crispy two – to – one hand slam.
3rd dunk: Coach Matt Lottich closes out with a ridiculous 360! After all those seasons in overseas he still has it!
Much love to the session II kids…be on the look out for more dunks to come in sessions 3-6!
In what will go down as one of the most epic years in streetball history, Kevin Durant wows fans all over the east coast with crazy 60 + point performances (Rucker Park) and amazing highlights. This clip is an example of one crazy dunk he did in the Carmelo Anthony League “Melo League” hosted by Melo’s non-profit Carmelocares.org.
Kevin Durant scored 66 points at Rucker Park in his first ever visit. This sequence is 4 straight three pointers, the last one hitting the 66 point mark which is definitely a historic feat for any NBA player in history to achieve at the legendary Rucker Park in Harlem, New York. Respect.
